The Mountaineer Heritage Season lasts until January 12 and is the last big game hunting opportunity until April. Here's what you need to know:
- The season is open statewide. Only long and recurve bows are legal in Logan, McDowell, Mingo and Wyoming counties.
- You must wear a blaze-orange outer garment of at least 400 square inches, unless you are hunting in Logan, McDowell, Mingo or Wyoming counties.
- You can take either a buck or doe during the season, but cannot take more than three antlered deer during the regular and Mountaineer Heritage Seasons combined.
- You can take one black bear during the season, but it won't count toward your annual bear season bag limit.
